Academic Assistance
Each year the Agency works with approximately 675 public and private school children (and young adults) between the ages of 11 and 27, to encourage higher education and assist with resources to help them complete school successfully. Agency staff visits area schools to conduct study skills building classes, assist with course selection, and provide information and assistance with the college application and financial aid process.
Danville Area Community College
East Central Illinois Community Action Agency also provides hundreds of hours of tutoring assistance to area students at no charge each year. Tutoring takes place at the school, or at local partnering Agencies, like the Laura Lee Fellowship House and Hoopeston Multi Agency Center.
We also take students on visits to college campuses for a first hand look at what to expect from college life. All of these services are offered at no charge to participating students.
College Scholarships
The Agency also awards several thousand dollars worth of college scholarships to young people from area families with low income to help them pursue higher education in the State of Illinois. For an application, please call or e-mail us.
