Educational Talent Search (ETS) is a program that identifies and assists individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds who have the potential to succeed in higher education. ETS program provides academic, career, and financial counseling to its participants and encourages them to graduate from high school and complete a postsecondary degree program. ETS encourages participants to take full advantage of the availability of financial aid and assists participants with the college application process. ETS also encourages adults who have not completed high school to reenroll and move on to complete a postsecondary degree program.

The Education Talent Search Program helps students to develop and improve their relationships skills, improve communication skills, leadership skills, personal problem solving, and responsible decision making skills. The Education Talent Search Program provides needed support that enables the community's youth to experience personal, social, and academic milestones in the student's life. Also, the program provides exceptional academic services so that the student will experience a successful academic career. The ultimate goal of the Education Talent Search Program is to help students find the inspiration and motivation to not only stay graduate from High School but also graduate from college.

ETS Vision

To establish resources locally, statewide, and nationally in order to ensure college success for our disadvantaged student population.

ETS Services

With funding provided by the US Department of Education, each year the Agency assists over 650 students, AT NO COST, in their efforts to attain higher education through:

  • Academic Tutoring
  • Career Exploration
  • Financial Aid Workshops
  • Assistance with College Admission
  • ACT Prep
  • College Tours
  • Time Management
  • Test Taking and Study Skills
  • Self-Esteem Building
  • One-on-One Individual Counseling

Tutoring is available at your school or one of our partnering community organizations:

  • Laura Lee Fellowship House (Danville)
  • Boys and Girls Club Danville (Danville)
  • Hoopeston Multi-Agency Service Center (Hoopeston)

ETS Program Eligibility

  • Students or Adults between the ages of 11-27
  • US Citizen or Permanent Resident
  • Individual from a Low-Income Household (see attached guidelines)
  • Potential First-Generation College Bound (neither parent has a Bachelorís Degree)
  • Enrolled at one of our participating schools:
    • Danville High School
    • Westville High School
    • Armstrong Township High School
    • Hoopeston Area High School
    • Georgetown Ridge Farm High School
    • South View Middle School
    • North Ridge Middle School
    • Hoopeston Area Middle School
    • Rossville-Alvin Grade School
    • Danville Area Community College GED Program

Academic Scholarships

Danville Area Community College

Each year the Agency also awards several thousand dollars in college scholarships to recipients from area families with low income to help them pursue higher education in the State of Illinois.
